As all you Ego-dads will know, the world of children’s TV can be a terrifying, utterly batshit place. You thought it was bad having to watch wanky Tom Hanks rom coms on Lifetime TV with your lady? Get a load of Rolie Polie Olie.
Now, sure, some of them are good. When you’ve got Bert and Ernie teaching you the alphabet, the Cookie Monster asking you to count with him and Big Bird walking you through a little advanced astrophysics or something, you’ve got to appreciate that this is Grade A TV right here. Much of the time, though, you’re running the gamut from the bizarre to the straight-up balls-out creepy.
In the Night Garden, I’m convinced, is the work of Satan himself. What the hell are those little furry dudes? Supposedly, this one is intended to get our little urchins all relaxed and bed-ready, so I’d question all the nightmare fodder therein. Still, I’m no fancy-ass TV exec, so who am I to judge?
If I did happen to be a fancy-ass TV exec, though, I’d get right on this. Children’s shows done the right way. The Grand Theft Auto V way.
Cartoons Cars Songs For Kids is a YouTube channel dedicated to kids. There are a heaping helping of those, but the USP here is that the episodes are created solely using GTA V’s director mode and cinematic mode. With a side of Spider-Man, natch.
The channel is super popular, as Kotaku reports, hitting multi-million views on each upload. Who’d have thunk that Grand Theft Auto could be so edu-taining for kids? I wouldn’t, but this is a real thing that’s happening. What a time to be alive.
